MohonBhog/ Suji Halwa(Semolina Halwa):
Bengalis are known as a fish eater. Fish is a very integral part of our daily meals as well as in some festivities and ceremonies it's marked as a very auspicious or good omen. Other than fish Sweets are also a very important role in everything. Religious festivals, occasions, normal daily meals sweets are a must. Generally, in Kolkata, we bought sweets from the shops, but some sweets like 'Pitha', 'Payesh' and 'Halwa' we make at home. Mohon Bhog or Halwa is a sweet which is mandatory in every festival. Especially for Puja and religious festival Halwa is a must.
Four or five ingredients are needed to make halwa. Yesterday was 'Akshay Tritiya' an auspicious day. I am thinking to make something for puja the easiest sweets that came on my mind is Mohon Bhog. It is tasty, needs few ingredients, needs less time. Some silver almond enhances the beauty and taste of it.

Preparation time - 20 minutes
Cooking time - 30 minutes Ingredients:
2 cups of Suji/ Semolina/Rava
2 cups of sugar
1 1/2 cups of milk
1 tsp cardamom powder
1 tbsp chopped almond
1/2 cup butter or ghee
1 bay leaf
Instructions:
1. In a Kadhai heat ghee or butter. Add bay leaf and semolina, fry in low flame until it turn light brown color and the aroma of fried semolina starts coming.
2. After semolina is done add cups of milk and let it boil. After it started boiling add sugar and cardamom powder. Add chopped almond. Cook until it comes together and liquid evaporates.
3. Let it cool. Then transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with chopped almond.
4. Serve it with flatbreads or as a dessert.
