Kachakolar Koshar Chop:
Plaintain/ Kacha Kala in Bengali is a well-known vegetable in Bengalis household. It contains vitamins, minerals, and well substance which has health benefits in different ways. I still remember the curry made out of Plaintain and fish made by my mom when I am sick or bedridden, I know many of you has the same memories as me. Bengalis are known as fish eater but we love to devour Veg dishes along with nonveg one. Sukto which is a delectable dish every Bengali loves to eat, plantain played a big part in it and who can forget Kacha Kalar Koftas which can conquer any nonveg dishes. Personally, I love Plantain I love to use every part of it. Usually, I make Kachakalar Khosha bata with the peel of it but this time for making Kachakalar kofta I got a huge amount of peel which I don't want to waste. I doubt myself though try to make kachakalar khoshar chop/ plantain croquettes and it came out so good that I am also surprised. If you don't tell no one will understand the ingredient. Ingredients:
5 - 6 plantain peel boiled
1 cup chopped onion
2 tbsp garlic
5 - 6 chopped green chilies
1 tsp aam chur powder
1 tsp garam masala powder
2 tsp red chili powder
2 tsp coriander powder
1 cup besan
2 tbsp rice flour/ cornflour
1 cup bread crumbs
Vegetable oil for frying
Salt for seasoning
Instructions:
1. For making plantain croquettes first we need to boil the peel. Then drain all water from it and slice it in small pieces.
2. In a mixing bowl add plantain peel, chopped onion, chopped green chilies, garlic, aam chur powder, garam masala powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, besan, rice flour, and salt. Mix it well to make a soft dough.
3. In a shallow dish arrange the bread crumbs. From the mixture take a small amount and give a shape like croquettes and roll in the bread crumbs. Do the same to the rest of the mixture.
4. Cover the croquettes with a kitchen towel and rest for 20 minutes.
5. After 20 minutes of heat oil in a frying pan and fry croquettes, don't crowd much fry them in batches.
6. Drain them on a kitchen towel, serve hot with tea and coffee as snacks or as a starter.
